Masterclass in Global Risk Intelligence

An intensive, practitioner-led programme that builds the core craft of modern risk intelligence — reading early signals, thinking in scenarios, and communicating a decision-ready view in a multipolar world.

Who it’s for

Analysts and professionals building the craft.

Strategy, risk and research staff; junior advisors and consultants; public-sector desk officers; corporate intelligence and government-affairs teams — anyone who needs to turn a noisy stream of economic and geopolitical events into structured, defensible foresight.

What you’ll be able to do
  • Run a disciplined intelligence cycle and tell signal from noise.
  • Read the instruments of economic statecraft and infer intent from behaviour.
  • Detect and cluster weak signals into defensible, trigger-based scenarios.
  • Use an AI-augmented foresight toolchain critically — without being captured by it.
  • Write and deliver a one-page, decision-ready brief in calibrated language.
The curriculum

Five modules, from first signal to decision-ready brief.

Built around the decisions practitioners actually face. Each module pairs method with live case material drawn from real advisory mandates.

01Foundations of risk intelligence+
What risk intelligence is — and is not. The intelligence cycle from direction to dissemination; sources and evidence quality; the analyst’s epistemics: cognitive bias, base rates, calibration and practitioner-level Bayesian updating. The through-line of the programme: signals → knowledge → decisions.
02The multipolar economy & economic statecraft+
Multipolarity as an operating environment, not a slogan. The toolkit of economic statecraft — sanctions and secondary sanctions, export controls, tariffs, investment screening, financial and currency leverage, critical-minerals chokepoints — and how to read state behaviour.
Case clinics: Nexperia · oil-sanction circumvention · US–China tech controls
03Signals, clustering & scenario thinking+
Signal versus noise; weak signals and leading indicators; event taxonomies and issue classification; the intuition behind clustering related events; scenario construction (critical-uncertainties, driver-based, morphological); and designing the trigger and indicator sets that tell you which scenario is actually unfolding.
04Applied tools & the foresight stack+
The modern analyst’s toolchain — structured event data, knowledge graphs, hybrid search and LLM-assisted synthesis — and their failure modes. Includes a hands-on working session inside the Platform: detect and cluster signals on an issue you choose, then assemble a mini-scenario from real, current material.
Platform working session · method lab
05Briefing & decision communication+
The decision-ready product: BLUF structure, estimative language, and the honest communication of confidence and uncertainty; visualising risk without false precision; the one-page written brief and the three-minute oral brief. Capstone: produce and deliver a short intelligence brief on a live issue, with peer and instructor critique.
Inside the programme · the Platform as method lab

You don’t watch a demo. You work the problem.

The same foresight engine that powers our daily intelligence is used here as a teaching instrument, not a showcase. You bring a live issue; the Platform supplies the raw signals, the knowledge graph and the scenario scaffolding; and you practise the craft from Modules 3 to 5 on a problem that matters to you. The session is built to show its working — the chain from signal to graph to scenario — and to name, out loud, what the tool cannot tell you.

  • Anchored to a concept just taught, never a standalone tour
  • Real, current outputs — not canned screens
  • You choose the issue and pose the question
  • The reasoning chain is shown, not just the result
  • Every segment ends with the limits of the tool
  • No sell during the teaching — the work speaks first
What you leave with

A method you can apply on Monday — and proof you can.

01

A working method

The full signal-to-brief workflow, with templates for scenarios, indicators and the one-page decision brief.

02

Assessed practice

Module knowledge-checks, a scenario-building assignment and a graded capstone brief — tracked in your private cohort portal.

03

A certificate

A Multipolarity Institute certificate of completion, plus continued access to your cohort materials and resources.
